ABOUT MICHAEL A. MAYS

     Michael A. Mays was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His family moved to Northern Virgina when he was four years old. Michael grew up and attented public schools in Fairfax County, Virginia. After high school, Michael attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with honors in 1972. He then attended Uniersity of Richmond Law School and graduated in the top one third of his class in 1975. Michael has been engaged in the private practice of law continuously since July 1976. In June 2007 Michael moved his office to Fauquier County, Virginia. His law practice concentrates in the ares of estate planning, financial planning, family law, business law, real estate, landlord tenant, and civil litigation as more fully set out below.

     Michael's hobbies and interests include history, science, health and nutrition, and sports. Michael is an avid tennis player.

  • FAMILY LAW - Premarital Agreements, Separation & Property Settlement Agreements, Divorce, Custody, Spousal & Child Support, Visitation issues.
  • BUSINESS LAW - Contracts, Leases, Proprietorships, Partnerships, Corporations, LLC's, sale of business, non compete & confidentiality agreements.
  • CIVIL LITIGATION - Claims for money damages arising from contract or tort and the defense of same.
  • REAL ESTATE - LANDLORD TENANT - Zoning, Land Use Issues, Contracts, Representation of Landlords, Preparing and Negotiating Leases, Unlawful Detainer cases.

     The above list describes the types of cases which comprise the majority of Michael's case load. However, he will also accept cases in other areas including traffic cases, real estate transactions, homeowner associations, legal malpractice and personal injury claims.
